Ever since its invention, telephony has evolved. The first exchanges had human operators who manually connected calls. These were replaced by automatic exchanges, and then by electronic exchanges. The revolution in telephony started when calls could be delivered from phone to phone over digital circuits, and particularly by using the TCP/IP protocol.
Traditionally, telephone systems were limited in terms of the number of simultaneous incoming/outgoing calls by the number of lines into the premises. With a hosted VoIP solution, the number of simultaneous calls is limited only by the bandwidth available on the data connection which carries the VoIP traffic. Generally a VoIP solution will allow more calls than a traditional system.
A hosted IP-based solution offers a number of big advantages over a traditional telephone system including: reduced capital expenditure – no PBXs to be purchased; no obsolescence – the Revolution core switching system is regularly updated, unlike most PBX-based systems which become outdated soon after installation; secure internet provisioning.
Using the Revo system, a phone can be plugged in anywhere where there is an Internet connection. Anywhere at all. In the head office, branch office, home office, hotel room. Anywhere in the country, anywhere in the world. Our system can even be configured to deliver incoming calls on a direct-dialled number to ring on any number of phones in diverse locations.
